Obituary

Ada Lucille Green, 88, passed away early Tuesday morning, September 6 th, 2022, in Vernon. A funeral service is planned for 2:00 p.m., Friday, September 9 th at Smith Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. David Smith officiating. Interment will follow at Quanah Memorial Park. Visitation will be held from 6-7 p.m., Thursday, at the funeral home.

Ada Lucille Hamby was born in Quanah, December 4, 1933, to the late William and Lois (Hunter) Hamby. She was a lifelong Quanah resident and member of the First Baptist Church. She was very involved with food preparation, at the church, as she was a wonderful cook. She also enjoyed working in her yard. She married J.P. "Bill" Green on December 17, 1949 in Childress, and together, they raised 4 sons. Bill preceded her in death on January 12, 2010. Lucille had worked at the Sewing Factory, Courthouse Café, and Edna's Chat & Chew.

Survivors include 3 sons, Rick Green (Cindy) of Wichita Falls, Charlie Green of Quanah, and Billy Green (Dot) of Quanah; 6 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; and 6 great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; son, James Green; sister, Janelle Shelton; and great-great granddaughter, Isabella Palomo.

The family suggests that memorials be made to Meals on Wheels, P.O. Box 492, Quanah, Texas 79252 or First Baptist Church Sack Lunch Program, P.O. Box 681, Quanah, Texas 79252.
