Betty Sue Roper passed away on Sunday, March 22, 2026, in Mont Belvieu, Texas. Visitation will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 28, 2026, at Smith Funeral Home.
Betty was born on December 18, 1932, in Foreman, Arkansas to Adie Lee and Chloe Bell (Green) Clayton. She married Arlen Alvin Roper in 1949 in Paducah, Texas. Betty worked as a Farm Bureau Insurance agent until her retirement. She was a member of the Jehovah's Witness congregation. Betty enjoyed gardening and was known for her strong work ethic.
She is survived by her son, Kenny Roper and wife Carrie; her grandchildren, Chad Roper and wife Angie, Stacy Gonzalez and husband Steven, Cory Roper and wife Cherrie, Craig Roper and wife Jill, Chris Roper and wife Kelli, James Roper and wife Joanie, Mandy Gragg and husband Chad, Katie Rutter, Sarah Roper, Tracy Jennings and wife Jenny, and Trent Jennings; numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; and her daughter-in-law, Shauna Roper.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Arlen Alvin Roper; her children, Thurman Roper and Karen June Jennings; her parents; and nine siblings.
The family suggests memorials be made to Quanah Senior Citizens/Meals on Wheels, P.O. Box 492, Quanah, Texas 79252.
