Carolyn Sue Wheat was born July 16, 1943, in Fort Worth, Texas, to Bill Riley Wheat and Thelma Lee Rutledge Wheat. She married Charles L. Golden, Jr. on April 25, 1961, in Weatherford, and together they raised three children.
Carolyn was a member of the First Methodist Church in Quanah and worked for many years as a secretary and bookkeeper. She loved to sew and was well known for her skill in clothing alterations. She also enjoyed cooking and baking for family and friends. Carolyn faithfully served her church—teaching Sunday school and helping raise funds for two years to rebuild the church after it was destroyed by fire.
She is survived by her sons, Glynn Golden of Quanah and Joe Golden of Murfreesboro, Tennessee; her daughter, Eden Golden and husband, Jason Mobley of Quanah; grandchildren, Brycin Golden, Brandyn Golden, Samantha Hodgkins and husband, Craig, Brooklin Bridges and husband, Kaylor, and Gage Benham; and great-grandchildren, Elias Golden, Riverlyn Hodgkins, Jaxon Hodgkins, and Greyson Hodgkins. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.
The family suggests memorials be made to the First Methodist Church, P.O. Box 397, Quanah, Texas 79252, or to the Alzheimer's Association, at Help fight Alzheimer's.
