Quanah
Carolyn McNabb, 79, of Quanah, died Thursday evening, September 20, 2018.
Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, September 23, 2018, at the First United Methodist in Quanah. Rev. Steve Martyn and Rev. Wayne Hollinshead will officiate.
Carolyn was born on May 3, 1939, in Coleman, Texas, to James Berger "Doc" and Veo (Waldrip) Pirtle. She attended Southwestern University followed by University of North Texas, where she graduated in 1960 with a Bachelor's degree in Education. It was there that she met the love of her life, Ken McNabb. They were married in Coleman on June 12, 1962.
In 1985, she continued her studies at Texas Tech, and received her Master's Degree in Education in 1988. She managed to do this while raising her three children, as her life was centered around her family, and her church. Carolyn taught adult and youth Sunday School for over 50 years, and was a high school teacher for 30 years. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church and the Retired Teachers Association.
Carolyn is survived by her husband, Kenneth McNabb, of Quanah; 2 daughters, Amy (Curtis) West, of Vernon, Jennifer (Jay) Foster, of Childress; 1 son, Matt McNabb, of Quanah; 1 brother, Rodney Pirtle, of Farmers Branch, Texas; 1 sister, JoAnn Harrison, of Spur, Texas; 5 grandchildren, Will Foster, Luke Foster, Lane Foster, Kaley West, Cade West; and special family friend, Kara Nickens, of Wichita Falls.
The family suggests memorials be made to the First United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 397, Quanah, Texas, 79252.
