Charlie Sparkman, 82, of Quanah, passed away Sunday evening, April 25 ^th , 2021. A funeral service is planned for 11:00 a.m., Saturday, May 1 ^st at the Rodeo Arena in Quanah, with Rev. Monte Lumpkin officiating. Interment will follow at Quanah Memorial Park with Mr. Steve McSpadden officiating. Visitation will be held from 6-7 p.m., Friday evening, April 30 ^th , at Smith Funeral Home Chapel.

Charles Wayne Sparkman was born in Hardeman County on October 25, 1938, to the late Van David and Clara Mae Butts Sparkman. He was a lifelong area resident and graduated from Quanah High School. He attended Tarleton University and Midwestern State University. Charlie and Ann Tabor were married on November 27, 1959 in Goodlett.  Charlie was a rancher and farmer, and served as Board President of Quanah Riding Club. He was a member of First United Methodist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Ann Sparkman of Quanah; 2 sons, Mike Sparkman and wife Marjory of Quanah, and Will Sparkman of Quanah; 1 daughter, Suzann Akers and husband Johnny of Quanah; 1 brother, Van Sparkman and wife Linda of Quanah; and  1 sister, Carolyn Lamberton and husband Mike of Quanah; grandchildren, Charly Sparkman, Alex White, Vandon Sparkman, Tess Bryant, Beau Turney, Tressa Duncan, and Tristan Turney; great grandchildren, Jaci Bryant, Bailey White, Claire White, Gentri Bryant, Kylee Bryant, Adaline Duncan, and Ezra Duncan. He was preceded in death by his parents, Van and Clara Sparkman; and a granddaughter, Cassie Sparkman.

The family requests that memorials be made to the Charlie Sparkman Scholarship Fund at First Capital Bank or Quanah Community Fund.
