Obituary

Dale Wayne Gerred passed away at his home on Monday, November 3, 2025, at the age of 95.

A funeral will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, November 8th, at the First Baptist Church in Quanah with Dr. Derrell Monday officiating. Interment will follow at Quanah Memorial Park. Visitation will be held Friday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Smith Funeral Home.

Dale was born January 21, 1930, in Lansing, Michigan, to Elton and Clara Woodman Gerred. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Air Force as an airplane mechanic from 1949 to 1952. On March 19, 1955, he married the love of his life, Helen Bryant, in Quanah, where together they built their home and raised three children — Edward, Susan, and Barry.

A talented mechanic and hardworking businessman, Dale owned and operated Dale's Auto Service for many years. Known for his honesty, steady hands, and friendly smile, he faithfully served his friends and neighbors in the Quanah community until his retirement in 1997.

Dale was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather whose quiet strength and kind heart left a lasting mark on everyone who knew him. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Quanah, where he found joy and fellowship.

He is survived by his son, Barry Gerred of Altus, Oklahoma; three grandchildren, Jennifer Kamper, Christopher Gerred, and Jason Gerred; and four great-grandchildren, Leah, Cade, Hayden, and Harley.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Helen; daughter, Susan Gerred; and son, Edward Gerred.

The family requests memorials be made to First Baptist Church, P.O. Box 681, Quanah, Texas 79252.
