Dee Smith, Jr. passed away in Hardeman County Memorial Hospital on April 4, 2021 at the age of 86.  A graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, April 16 ^th at Quanah Memorial Park with Mr. Jim Waldo officiating.

Dee was born August 11, 1934 to Dee Smith, Sr. and Nona Smith in Bells, Texas. He came to Quanah while working on a seismograph crew where he met Barbara Coats. They married in September 1954 and settled in Quanah. He went to work for QA&P Railroad and continued that employment until the last train on that railway made the final trip to Floydada, Texas. He also had a yard spraying business and a small engine repair shop.  He was a gun enthusiast and loved to hunt and shoot trap.

He is survived by his wife, Barbara Coats Smith; daughters Vickie Dee Smith Davis and Laura Jean Smith; son Anthony DeShane (Shane) Smith; grand-daughter Shylee Smith; and his faithful companion and fur baby Allie.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to Hospice of Wichita Falls.
