Delight Henderson was born November 29, 1930 in Lubbock, Texas to Clifford and Ardath Hardin. She grew up in Lubbock and graduated from Texas Tech where she was honored as a "Tech Beauty".  She was a member of the social club Sans Souci, which became Kappa Alpha Theta Fraternity.  While there she met the love of her life Bud Henderson.  They were married in Lubbock August 5, 1950  and moved to Quanah, Texas where she was a lifelong resident.

No one was more aptly named than Delight. She was a wonderful mother, wife and friend and was devoted to her family and her church.  She taught for many years in the Quanah schools and was honored as Greenbelt Educator of the year.  With a kind heart and warm smile she touched the lives of her students and co-workers alike. …a true Delight to all who knew her.

After receiving her Masters degree from Texas Tech in 1979 Delight held administrative positions with: Region 9 Service Center, Greenbelt Special Services, and retired as the Director of the Wilbarger Special Services in 1992. Following retirement she worked for Midwestern University mentoring student teachers and was active in the Quanah Association of Retired Teachers.  Her retirement years were spent enjoying her children, grandchildren, her many friends, and her community.  As a Sunday School leader at First Christian Church she was a loyal servant who encouraged many in their Christian faith.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Richard Hardin and step-brother Max Stover.She is survived by her husband Bud Henderson; Children: Daryl and Kitty Henderson of Quanah; Kim and Buzz Cooper of Lubbock. Grandchildren: Bonner and Ashley Cooper and Great Grandson Brazos of College Station; Zane and Kate Henderson of College Station; Leeza Henderson of Austin, Ross Cooper of Nashville, Tn; Carson Henderson of Quanah; Step-brother: Billy Stover and wife Sherry of Dallas, and many dear friends who loved her deeply.

A memorial service to celebrate her life will be held on Wednesday, September 6 at 2pm followed by a time of fellowship. In lieu of flowers, the family request memorials to the Thompson-Sawyer Public Library, Quanah Historical Society, First Christian Church of Quanah or Hospice of Wichita Falls.
