Dewey Richard Wesson, 90, of Quanah, passed away Friday, August 9, 2019. The family will accept visitors from 7-8 p.m. on Tuesday, August 13 th , at Smith Funeral Home.
A funeral service is planned for 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, August 14 th at the Church of Christ in Quanah. Interment will follow at Quanah Memorial Park.
Dewey was born in Dodson, Texas on June 9, 1929 to Clarence and Nora (Clounch) Wesson. He graduated from Odell High School, where his family operated a grocery store. He served in the National Guard from 1948 – 1958, and was a member of Woodmen of the World. Dewey was a builder and owned a lumberyard. He was married to Sandra Adams on April 7, 1951 in Quanah. She preceded him in death on February 2, 1980. He was later married to Deta Logan Williams , and then Tolatha Lulene Dotson Baxter.
Survivors include his daughter, Shana Parmer and husband, Dr. Jay Parmer of Quanah; 2 step daughters, JoAnn Vecera and husband Fred Jr., of Crowell; Shirley Mott and husband Roy of Quanah; step son, Jim and wife Charlotte Baxter of McKinney, Texas; daughter-in-law Jayne Baxter of Hutto, Texas; 13 grandchildren; and numerous great grandchildren.
Dewey was preceded in death by a son, Bruce Dewayne Wesson; his 3 wives, Sandra, Deta and Lulene; step son, Wayne Baxter; and step grandson, Ryan Mott.
The family suggests that Memorials be made to the Quanah Church of Christ or Hardeman County Memorial Hospital.
