Dora Gonzales Sargent, 71, of Childress, passed away Tuesday, September 9, 2025, in Childress. Funeral services are scheduled for 10:00 a.m., Saturday, September 13, 2025, at Smith Funeral Home Chapel in Quanah. Interment will follow at Quanah Memorial Park. Visitation will be held Friday evening from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Smith Funeral Home.

Dora was born May 20, 1954, in Beeville, Texas, to Augustine Ramirez and Rebecca Balladarez Ramirez. On July 12, 2014, she married Charlie Sargent in Vernon.

She retired as a housekeeper from Wilbarger General Hospital and was devoted to her family and community. Dora was an active volunteer, serving as President of the VFW Auxiliary in Altus. She enjoyed bingo, visiting casinos, and collecting Pioneer Woman products.

She is survived by her husband, Charlie Sargent of Childress; children, Cesilio Gonzales, Jr., Angie Gonzales and Joseph Monaghan, Augustine Gonzales and Cela, Joe Gonzales, and Tommy Gonzales and Ashley; siblings, Pat Gonzales, Esther Morales, Johnny Ramirez, Linda Maldonado, Joe Ramirez, Laura Johnson, Nick Ramirez, and Terry Carter; 19 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by siblings, Augustine Ramirez, Jr., Pedro Ramirez, Jerry Ramirez, Ruth Casarez, Ann Mercado, Sylvia Ortega, and Becky Moya; and grandchildren, Viola Saucedo and Adrian Silvas.

The family suggests memorials be made to the VFW Auxiliary of Altus.
