Ellen Edwards, 72, of Vernon passed away Friday, October 29, 2021 in Wichita Falls, Texas. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, November 3, 2021 at Goodlett Cemetery with Rev. Monte Lumpkin officiating. Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m., Tuesday evening at Smith Funeral Home in Quanah.

Ellen Louise Scoggins was born February 8, 1949 in Quanah, Texas to Cranford Elbert and Alta Bernice Byrd Scoggins. She was raised in Goodlett and was a graduate of Crowell College School of Nursing. She worked at Quanah and Vernon Hospitals and 20 years at Vernon State Hospital.

Survivors include her husband, John Edwards of Vernon; 2 sons, Casey Patterson of Hollis, Oklahoma and Chris Hix of Boerne, Texas; 3 brothers, Carl Scoggins and Elbert Scoggins of Quanah, Doug Scoggins of Goodlett; 1 sister, Helen Scoggins of Quanah; and 4 grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by two sisters, Connie Brown and Maxine Rhodes.

The family suggests memorials be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
