Elsie Turner, lifetime resident of Hardeman County, died Tuesday morning, August 15th, 2017, in Wichita Falls.  She was 96.

A visitation will be held from 6:00 - 7:00 p.m., Thursday, August 17th, at the Funeral Home.  Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m., Friday, August 18th, at the First Baptist Church in Quanah, with Rev. David Smith officiating.  Interment will follow at Chillicothe Cemetery, under direction of Smith Funeral Home.

Elsie was born April 3, 1921, in Medicine Mound, Texas, to Leonard and Edna (Waldrip) Higginbottom.  Elsie married Edward Turner on November 27, 1943 in Frederick, Oklahoma.  To this union were born 2 daughters - Cheryl and Cela.

Edward preceded her in death on March 4, 2005.  She was also preceded by a son-in-law - Andy McGlocklin; granddaughter - Ann Shepherd; 2 sisters - Estelle Huff and Lois Baird; 1 brother - Curtis Higginbottom; step-mother - Nola Higginbottom; and 2 step-sisters - Margaret and Sue.

Survivors include her daughters - Cheryl McGlocklin, of Chillicothe, and Cela and Brad Jones, of Amarillo; 6 grandchildren - Carol McGlocklin, Jessie Arbelo, Austin and Rachael Jones, Tyler and Kathryn Jones, Bethany and Daniel Stokes, and Sarah Jones; and 9 great-grandchildren.

Elsie always lived within view of Medicine Mounds.  She was a member of the First Baptist Church, of Quanah, and Sunday School teacher for many decades.  She diligently managed the family farm and ranch, while also making her home a place everyone wanted to be.  She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
