Frank Walden, 85, of Quanah, passed away Thursday morning in Crowell. A graveside service is planned for 10:00 a.m., Monday, August 10, 2020 at Quanah Memorial Park. Rev. Wayne Hollinshead and Mr. Rob Roberts will officiate.
Frank Ray Walden was born Friday, February 1, 1935 in Rubottom, Oklahoma, to L.M. and Willie Ethel (Black) Walden. He enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corp in February of 1954 and served until February of 1957. After his discharge, he and Shirley Ann Dake were married in Quanah, Texas on May 24, 1957. Together, they raised 4 children. Frank and Shirley moved their family to Quanah in 1960. He worked as a telephone repair service technician and was a first responder for many years. Frank served on the Quanah Volunteer Fire Department for 54 years. He was also a member of the First Christian Church.
Survivors include his children: son, Dake Walden of Turlock, California; daughters, Dana Wells, and husband Billy, of Houston, Texas, Kati Williams of Houston, Texas, Kari Young, and husband Kevin, of Vernon, Texas; a sister, Loretta Walden of Plano, Texas; 6 grandchildren, Kaitlyn Wells, Kynndra Clementi, Kasey Sullivan, Scott Young, Justin Young, and Ashley Walden; and 1 great grandchild, Lukas Sullivan.
Frank was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley, in 2012; 1 brother, Bobby Walden; and 1 grandchild, Kenleigh Wells.
The family suggests that memorials be made to the Quanah Volunteer Fire Department, or Quanah Senior Citizens.
