Franklin Moore, long time Quanah resident, passed away Saturday morning, May 28, 2022 in Abilene Texas. A funeral service is planned for 1:00 p.m., Thursday, June 2 ^nd at Childress Church of Christ, with interment to follow at Childress Cemetery under direction of Smith Funeral Home. Visitation will be held from 5:30 – 7:00 pm, Wednesday, June 1st, at Smith Funeral Home in Quanah.

Franklin Albert Moore was born January 1, 1936 in Northfield, Texas to Samuel Franklin and Lillie Belle Moore. During his early years, he attended school at Community Center, Texas before moving to Childress, where he graduated high school in 1954. He married Shirley Jean Weaver on September 14, 1956; and enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1958. Franklin received his Honorable Discharge from the Army in August of 1962. He worked for Texas Department of Transportation for 10 years and farmed in the evenings; he measured farms for the ASCS/USDA office; installed fences for Sears Roebuck and served on the Coop and Peanut Boards; all while farming full time. In 1998 he managed the Coop Gin in Tahoka, Texas. Before moving to Abilene, Texas in 2017, Franklin was a member of Quanah Church of Christ, where he served as a deacon and an elder.

Survivors include his wife, Shirley Jean Moore of Abilene; a daughter, Kathryn Diane Rich and husband Leslie, of Abilene; a son, Craig Alan Moore and wife Kimberly, of Lubbock; 5 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren; and many nephews, nieces, great nephews, and great nieces.

Franklin was preceded in death by his father, Samuel Franklin Moore; mother, Lillie Belle Moore; 3 sisters, Louise Matthews, Guaneth Thomas, and Vadine Hall; and 2 brothers, Charlie William Moore and Sami Eugene Moore.
