Glenda Weatherby passed away on May 15, 2024 following a lengthy illness.
She was born December 11, 1935 in Quanah, Texas to parents, Mr. and Mrs. Mabry Barbee. She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother J.C. Barbee, who was killed in action in World War II; a granddaughter, Jessica Shelby; and by her husband, Charles Weatherby. She will be interred in Eastview Cemetery in Vernon, Texas next to her husband.
Glenda is survived by a sister, Betty Lay, of Wichita Falls, Texas; children, Debbie Naron Nelson of Quanah, Richard Naron and wife Lisa of Denison, Texas and Larry Naron of Quanah; 9 grandchildren; and 15 great grandchildren.
Glenda was a homemaker and also worked several years in sewing factories here in Quanah. She retired from Vernon State Hospital. In recent years, following death of her husband, she moved to Wichita Falls where her sister Betty lives. They lived a few doors apart in the same apartment complex for 25 years. They were active in senior activities including bingo, karaoke, and line dancing. Glenda loved to read, knit and crochet. She knitted hundreds of hats and scarves each year to donate to Faith Missions for the less fortunate.
Memorials in her honor should be made to the organization of your choice.
