Harold Edward "Dusty" Callaway, 75, of Quanah, Texas, passed away on the afternoon of Friday, February 21, 2025. In accordance with his wishes, he will be cremated.
Dusty was born on September 21, 1949, in Shreveport, Louisiana, to Harold Jackson Callaway and Edwina Catherine Collins Callaway. A proud U.S. Marine serving from 1968 to 1969, including courageously serving a tour in Saigon, Vietnam. After completing his tour, he was honorably discharged but remained a Marine at heart throughout his life.
After the Marines, Dusty built a successful career as a private investigator, and in his younger years, he had a passion for rodeo, competing as a bulldogger. Later, he found joy in cooking and smoking competitions, where he showcased his skills and love for good food. He was also a regular member of the First Christian Church of Quanah.
He is survived by his loving family, including his former wife, Linda Lucas of Guthrie, Oklahoma, daughters Brandy & Derrick Avery and Toby & Joey Musil, both of Guthrie, Oklahoma; his son Steven & Crystal Eason of Huntington, Texas; and his cherished grandchildren: Tyler Musil & Giselle Bustamante, Kayla & Manuel Perez, Hannah & Colby Williams, Hagen Turner & Dani Pullen, Bethany & Keith Wheeler, Kyleigh Harris, Dusty Dakota Eason, Kynlee Eason, Kamberlin Eason, Saylie Eason, and Brailyn Eason. He also leaves behind his beloved great-grandchildren Ansley Wheeler, Asher Wheeler, Creysen Williams, Reyden Williams, Hesten Williams, Amelia Perez, and Blakely Perez.
Dusty is survived by his siblings: Jacky & Tammy Callaway, Sandy & J.R. Nation, Cynthia & Frank Daniels, and Tim Callaway. He was preceded in death by his wife, Kim Callaway; his son, Michael Eason; and his brother, Gary Callaway.
A memorial visitation to honor Dusty's life will be held on March 8, 2025, at 1201 Mercer, Quanah, TX. The service will begin at 1 PM, and those wishing to pay their respects are welcome to come and go as they please.
Dusty will be deeply missed but forever remembered for his strength, love for family, and unwavering spirit.
