Jerry Jack Preston of Bossier City, Louisiana passed away on October 25th, 2025. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, November 8th, at Memorial Park Cemetery in Quanah, Texas. Visitation will be held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, November 8th at Smith Funeral Home in Quanah.

Jack was born on January 4, 1938, in Quanah, Texas, to Tom and Edna Preston. He graduated from Quanah High School, where he was a standout athlete, lettering in football, basketball, and baseball. He went on to earn his Bachelor of Arts degree in Business from Hardin-Simmons University. Following college, Jack proudly served his country in the United States Army and Army Reserves from 1960 to 1972.

Throughout his life, Jack was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He was married to the love of his life, Ouidon Preston, until her passing. Together they built a beautiful life rooted in love, faith, and family.

Jack had a long and successful career as a retail and business owner. After college, Jack was a general manager of Joske's in San Antonio for several years and later opened his own business, JJ's Sporting Good store, after moving to Dumas. Beyond his professional achievements, he was deeply involved in his community—serving in numerous leadership roles with Rotary, homeowners associations, churches, school boards, and youth sports programs. His passion for mentoring others and giving back was evident in all he did.

An active man with a zest for life, Jack enjoyed snow skiing, water skiing, running, and attending sporting events. He especially loved spending time with his family, cheering on his grandchildren, and creating lasting memories together.

Jack was a member of Green Acres Baptist Church in Tyler, Texas, where his faith remained a guiding force throughout his life.

He is survived by his children, Rodney Preston and wife Kim of Bossier City, Louisiana, and Tami Bishop and husband Brian of Denver, Colorado; his sister, Peggy Preston Pressley; grandchildren Brad Preston, Kevin Preston, Crysta Lynch, and Jacob Preston; and nine great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Ouidon Preston, and sisters Leta Preston Johnston, Maxine Preston Barnett, and Julienne Preston Epps.

Jack will be remembered for his steadfast faith, his love for family, and his commitment to service and community. His legacy lives on through those who knew and loved him.
