Jessie Bagby passed away Wednesday evening, March 22, 2023 at his home in Quanah. A funeral service is planned for 3:00 p.m., Monday, March 27 ^th at the First Christian Church in Quanah. Interment will follow at Quanah Memorial Park.

Jessie Lee Bagby was born December 28, 1949 in Erick, Oklahoma to Bennie Frank "Ben" Bagby and Juanita Isabell "Edith" Bagby. Jessie married Donna Sue Pritchard on December 18, 1971 in Quanah, Texas. Together they raised one son, Clifton W. Bagby.

Other than his loving wife of 51 years, and 2 granddaughters, Jessie was proud of his service to his country. He served in the Vietnam War, as a Sgt in the US Army.  During his service he received the National Defense Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, a Purple Heart, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, Combat Infantryman Badge, Bronze Star, Two Overseas Service Bars and Marksman Qualification Badge with Rifle Bar. Jessie was honorably discharged from the United States Army the 16 ^th day of June 1971 and a General Discharge Under Honorable Conditions June 18, 1973.  Jessie retired from TXDOT in 2013 and had previously worked 22 years at Georgia Pacific.

Survivors include Donna Sue "Susie" Bagby, his wife of 51 years; a son, Clifton Bagby of Lubbock; Granddaughters, Clancey Gayle (Bagby) Harris and Teagan Lynn (Bagby) Harris; 2 brothers, Danny Bagby of Crowell, Texas and William Bagby of Gaston, South Carolina; 2 sisters, Faye Poole of Enid, Oklahoma and Jody Lewis of Eastland, Texas; and several cousins.

Jessie was preceded in death by his parents, and one sister, Francis Morrison.

The family suggests memorials be made to Beyond Faith Hospice or First Christian Church in Quanah.
