Obituary

Johnny Wayne Akers passed away Friday, November 7, 2025, in Quanah. He was 79.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, November 15th, at the Quanah Country Club.

Johnny was born October 28, 1946, in Quanah, Texas, to Russell Wayne and Dorothy Belle Beaty Akers. He married Suzann Sparkman on November 5, 2016, in Quanah.

A lifelong rancher, Johnny also co-owned Akers & Risinger from 1978 to 1996, worked at Lake Pauline, and served two terms as Hardeman County Commissioner, retiring in 2012. He enjoyed dancing and was known for his friendly nature, outgoing personality, and love of visiting with others.

He is survived by his wife, Suzann Akers of Quanah; his children, John Akers and wife Deb of Quanah, Creed Akers of Weatherford, Calli Clarkson and husband Ric of Aledo, Alex White and husband Preston of Quanah, and Tess Bryant and husband Brady of Eldorado; Vanessa Ragland and Stacy Ragland; grandchildren, Johna Akers, Kiona "Cricket" Akers, Scout Akers, Ivy Akers, Trace Clarkson, Crue Clarkson, Bailey White, Claire White, Jaci Braynt, Gentri Bryant, Kylee Bryant, Charlie Bryant; great grandchild, Kaleby "Rooster" Akers, and nephew, Bart Benge.

Johnny was preceded in death by his parents; his twin sister, Judy Benge; and his grandson, Kale Akers.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to Meals on Wheels, P.O. Box 492, Quanah, Texas 79252.
