Johnny Marines, Sr. passed away at his home Wednesday evening, May 10, 2023. A funeral service is planned for 2:00 p.m., Monday, May 15 th at Smith Funeral Home Chapel. Visitation will be held from 5-6 p.m., Sunday afternoon, at the chapel.
Johnny Marines was born May 14, 1943 in El Campo, Texas to Leon Marines, Sr. and Ruby Martinez Marines. He married Janie "Tammy" Alaniz on May 4, 1965, in Seymour, Texas and together they raised 6 children. Johnny enjoyed being a truck driver and was retired from ADM. He had a skill for writing poetry to his wife, and music. He wrote everything down and had Bible scriptures everywhere. Johnny was a member of Pentecostals of Childress.
Survivors include children, Arlene Tellez of Sinton, Texas, Johnny Marines, Jr., of Quanah, Sherry Perez of Sinton, Texas, Tina Smith of Childress, Gil Marines, Sr. of Quanah, and Gil Marines, Jr. of Quanah; one sister, Adele Foster of Quanah; 26 grandchildren; and 28 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife; father; mother; sister, Sandra Martinez; brother, Leon Marines, Jr.; 2 grandchildren, Sage Danielle Marines and Blake Layne Underwood.
