Jonathan Dean McGuire, 73, of Quanah, passed away early Saturday morning, August 17, 2019.

A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, August 20, 2019 at First Christian Church with Rev. Wayne Hollinshead officiating. Visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Monday, August 19 ^th at Smith Funeral Home.

Jon was born October 5, 1945 to Charles K. "Choc" and Mary Agnes (Richardson) McGuire in Quanah. He graduated from Quanah High School and served in the U.S. Navy as a postal clerk during Vietnam. He retired as a volunteer fireman from the QVFD after 30 years; was a member of the VFW; and retired from Georgia Pacific after 30 years of employment. Jon was a member of the First Christian Church.  As a personal note from this writer, he was also a kind and helpful neighbor, and always a pleasure to visit with.

He is survived by his wife, Carol McGuire of Quanah; a daughter, Heather McGuire of Quanah; 2 brothers, Don McGuire of Vernon, and Joe McGuire of Austin; and 5 grandchildren.

The family suggests that memorials be made to Hospice of Wichita Falls or the Quanah Volunteer Fire Department.
