Joretta Lumpkin (Jodie) 87, passed from this life on December 15 th , 2018, at Childress Regional Medical Center. Jodie was born September 27, 1931, to her parents, Ben and Lois White, in Reed, Oklahoma. She married Charles Lumpkin on April 2 nd , 1949, in Wellington, Texas. In 1953, they returned to western Hardeman County, and began farming. In 1955, a son, Monte, was born from this union.
Jodie worked 35 years at Hardeman County Memorial Hospital, then another 15 years for Dr. Walter Brooks. She also worked for B&B Medical for a number of years.
Jodie scored one of the highest grades in the state of Texas on her LVN certification state board test. She was the valedictorian of her high school class of Centralvue High School.
She was a lady who loved life, loved her friends and family, and most of all loved her Lord and savior. She had a beautiful smile, a giving heart, and a spirit that glorified God.
Jodie is survived by her husband, Charles, of the home; her son, Monte, and his wife Susan, of Quanah; two granddaughters: Nicki Lumpkin, of Lubbock, and Shvonne Ray, and her husband, Trevor, of Goodlett.
She was a member of First Baptist Church in Quanah and more importantly, a part of the body of Christ. She loved to sing in the choir and loved the Word of God. She will be deeply missed and never forgotten.
