Kathryn Laverne Barnes, 78, died Saturday, May 11, 2019 in Vernon.

A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, May 14, 2019 at Quanah Memorial Park. Rev. Tommy Elder of Bethel Baptist Church, and Rev. Jeromy Walters of the First Assembly of God Church, will officiate.

Kathryn was born January 5, 1941 to Juney G. and Mary (Morehead) Justus in Atoka, Oklahoma. She lived in Marble Falls, Texas prior to moving to Quanah.

She was an avid gardener, and enjoyed sewing and making dolls. She was a member of Bethel Baptist Church in Quanah.

She is survived by three daughters, Delana (Robert) Duncan, of Quanah, Carla (James ) Thompson, of Vernon, and Deborah (Greg) Nunley, of Tipton, Oklahoma; a brother, Kenneth Justus of Justin, Texas; 3 sisters, Vivian Holloway and Wynona Dean  of Wills Point, Texas, and Joyce Schaffer of Claremore, Oklahoma; 10 grandchildren and  13 great grandchildren.

Kathryn was preceded in death by a son, Glen Barnes in 2007; 2 brothers, Delbert Justus and Roy Justus; a sister, Rosemary Houston; and her parents

The family suggests memorials be made to Kindred Hospice.
