LaRuth Whatley Patterson, 92, passed away Wednesday morning, May 26, 2021, at her home in Amarillo. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, May 29 ^th , 2021 at Smith Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow at Quanah Memorial Park. Visitation will be at 10:00 a.m., Saturday morning.

LaRuth Whatley was born in Goodlett on April 26, 1929 to Wood and Grace Whatley. She attended school in Goodlett, but graduated in 1946 from Williams High School in Holly, Colorado. LaRuth also attended business school in Wichita Falls, Texas. She married A.G. (Pat) Patterson on October 28, 1947 in Henrietta, Texas and together they raised three children. She worked in the canteen at the Veteran's Hospital before retiring in 1978. She was a member of the Methodist church. LaRuth loved puzzles and gambling.

Survivors include one daughter, Woodna Nutt; 2 brothers, Jim and Tony Whatley; 2 sisters, Kay Simpson and Judy Rosser; 7 grandchildren, Shannon Stempf, Monty Phelps, Trevor Nutt, Judson Adair, Christopher Nutt, Kylie Patterson, and Konner Patterson. She was preceded in death by her husband, Pat Patterson; one daughter, JaTonii Adair; a son, Kody Patterson; brothers, Tom, Del, and Lester Whatley; sisters, Billie Nell Hines, Bobbye Martin, and Jackie Smith.
