Laurel Thomas Jennings was born to the late George and Harriet Thomas on February 25,1938 in Quanah, TX. She was the youngest of four children. Laurel accepted Christ at a young age.

Laurel attended Primary School at Douglas High. Upon completion she worked as a homemaker, dietary assistant, and many years for
Pechacek and Sullivan Families.

Laurel interest were fishing, playing the casino slots, dancing, cooking and helping others. She loved cracking jokes and making people laugh. She was a pillar to the community of Quanah and surrounding areas.

Laurel at the age of 83 went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, October 19, 2021. She was preceded in death by her parents; and step parents; Ed and Laura Jean Burns, brother; George Thomas Jr.; two sisters, Leola Brown and Pearl Dalton; grandson, Rodney Woodard.

Sweet memories are to be cherished by eight children, Lannie (Charles) Hood, Sarah Doby, John Woodard, Dale Burns, Rita (Allen) Mayberry, Gene Thomas, Bobby Thomas, Jill (Shaddon) Meyer; sister; Lou Ann Wherry, grandsons, Eric (LaTasha) Doby, Charlie Love, Kareen Burns, Jordan Woodard, Peyton Edwards, Shaddon Meyer Jr., Zyron Thomas and Trace Thomas; granddaughters, Detriece Woodard, Nickole (Derrick) Williams, Zendra (Keyair) Hall, Dynasti (Stephon) Dixon, Brianna Henry, Codi (Eric) Porter, and Tiffany Love; twenty six great grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and extended family of E.C. Marler, Elizabeth Drake and Billy Johnson.

A funeral service is planned for 1:00 p.m., Saturday, October 30th at the First Baptist Church in Quanah with Rev. Charlie Love officiating. Interment will follow at Quanah Memorial Park. Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m., Friday, October 29th at Smith Funeral Home Chapel.
