Obituary

Opal Quisenberry, died on Saturday, June 2, 2018 in Crowell, Texas. She was 94.

Lydia Opal Quisenberry was born on December 14, 1923 in Emory, Texas, to Lester and Mattie (Waskom) Berry. She married Leon Quisenberry on September, 19, 1950 at the First Baptist Church in Quanah, Texas.  Opal and Leon had two children, Roy and Earl Wade.

Opal moved to Hardeman County from Emory, Texas, in a covered wagon, at the age of two. She was a graduate of Quanah High School in 1941.  Opal was a member of First Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday School.  She also taught art classes locally.

She is survived by her son Roy Quisenberry, and wife Jana, of Quanah; 2 grandsons: Adam (Lindsey) Quisenberry, and Eric (Sarah) Quisenberry of College Station, Texas; 4 great grandchildren: Jordan Quisenberry, Cooper Quisenberry, Parker Quisenberry, and Kate Quisenberry, all of College Station, Texas; 3 sisters in law: Dawn Berry, of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Donna Berry, of Fort Worth, Texas, and Anne Berry, of New Orleans, Louisiana; 1 brother in law: Howard Stanley, of Lubbock, Texas; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Opal was preceded in death by her husband, Leon, on October 24, 2017; her son Earl Wade in 1967; her parents; 3 sisters; and 3 brothers.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, June 5, 2018 at the First Baptist Church in Quanah, with Rev. Wayne Hollinshead and Eric Quisenberry officiating. Interment will follow at Quanah Memorial Park under direction of Smith Funeral Home.
