Obituary

Peggy Gossett, 90, of Quanah, passed away early Monday morning, December 7, 2020, in Vernon. A graveside service e is planned for 1:00 p.m., Thursday, December 10th, at Eldorado Cemetery in Eldorado, Oklahoma. Rev. Wayne Hollinshead will officiate. Visitation will be held from 6-7 p.m., Wednesday evening, December 9th, at Smith Funeral Home.

Peggy Jean Doggett was born in Fairland, Oklahoma on September 24, 1930 to George and Nellie Rushings Doggett. She married Clinton Gossett on May 30, 1948 in Quanah. He preceded her in death on August 13, 2003. She became a resident of Quanah in 1950. Peggy was a member of the First Christian Church; and worked at the Vernon State Hospital for many years. She enjoyed sewing, embroidery, quilting, gardening, and being with her family.

Survivors include her 3 sons, Jim Gossett of Wichita Falls, Mike Gossett of Ruidoso, New Mexico, and Buddy Gossett of Quanah; 2 sisters, Mary Simon of New Braunfels and Betty Johnston of Fort Worth; 1 brother, George Doggett, Jr. of El Paso; 8 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; 1 great great grandson; and several nieces and nephews.

Peggy was preceded in death by a great granddaughter and 2 sisters.

The family suggests memorials be made to American Cancer Society, Wounded Warriors, American Heart Association, or Multiple Sclerosis Society.
