Rebecca Garza, 83, passed away on Thursday, October 1, 2020 in McAllen, Texas, while visiting her family. A funeral mass is planned for 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, October 6, 2020 at St. Mary Catholic Church.  Rosary will be held at 7:00 p.m., Monday, October 5 ^th at Smith Funeral Home Chapel.

Rebecca Martinez was born December 2, 1936 in Edinburg, Texas to Raymundo and Manuela (Ortiz) Martinez. She married Fortunato "Chico" Garza on October 30, 1967 in Quanah.  Chico preceded her in death on March 19, 2003.

She was an active member of St. Mary Catholic Church, and was known for making very tasty tamales.

Rebecca is survived by a brother, Raymundo Martinez of Mission, Texas; and a sister, Godeleva Ramos of Edinburg.
