Ricky Morton passed away Saturday evening, May 27, 2023 in Crowell.  He was 67. A memorial service is planned for 11:00 a.m., Friday, June 2, 2023 at Smith Funeral Home Chapel in Quanah. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. until service time.

Ricky Lynn Morton was born November 4, 1955, in Quanah, to Don Morton and Laverne Templeton Morton. Ricky worked at Georgia Pacific for over 20 years, and retired from TDCJ as a Prison Guard.  He enjoyed guns, knives, fishing, reading, and spending time with his grandchildren. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Quanah.

Survivors include his children, Melissa Barrera and husband Anthony of Crowell, Holly Morton and husband Michael of Crowell, Kopresha Houck and husband Duane of Nicholasville, Kentucky, Eric Morton and wife Jazmine of Wellington, Texas; grandchildren, Tate and Logan Barrera, Bradi Morton, Brooklin and Kelsey Houck, Jayci Hall, and Lexi Morton; sisters, Dot Green and husband Billy of Quanah, Cheryl Rogers of Quanah, Susan Butler and husband Randy of Childress; and brothers, Dee Morton of Quanah and Steve Morton and wife Debbie of Quanah. He was preceded in death by his parents; a granddaughter, Jordan Hall in 2001; and a brother, Jimmy Morton.

The family suggests memorials be made to Beyond Faith Hospice in his memory.
