Ridley Gibson passed away Monday, July 28, 2025, in Crowell, Texas. The funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, August 2, 2025, at First Baptist Church in Quanah. Visitation is scheduled for Friday evening from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Smith Funeral Home Chapel.

Ridley Lahroy Gibson was born December 23, 1945, in Vernon, Texas, to Leroy and Iva Mae Bradford Gibson. He graduated from Quanah High School, where he was an All State Quarterback and outstanding athlete, he then went on to attend Baylor University, continuing his football career and winning the Bobby Jones Award for outstanding player at the Baylor Homecoming game his senior year. He was later drafted by the Green Bay Packers and then played semi-professional football for the Arkansas Diamondbacks. Ridley was a passionate fan of both sports and rodeo and a huge supporter of all things "Quanah". His faith was important and he was a devoted member of First Baptist Church.

He married Sherrie Kay Green in December 1966 in Waco, Texas. After Ridley retired from the finance and oil and gas industry, he committed his time serving on several boards including the Quanah Chamber of Commerce, Quanah Senior Citizens, Quanah Alumni Association, and Hardeman County hospital board; and a member of the Quanah Masonic Lodge.

He is survived by his wife, Sherrie Kay Gibson of Quanah; sons, Scott Alan Gibson of Godley and Christopher Mark Gibson (Toni) of Stephenville; daughter, Kimberly Dawn Rousser (Heath) of Amarillo; grandchildren, Cortney Ann Weathermon (Laramey), Cooper Mac Gibson, Rhett Taylor Rousser, and Reid Garrett Rousser; great-grandchildren, Tripp Weathermon and Moxon Weathermon; brother, James Michael Gibson (Teresa); niece, Natalie Ross (David) and their son, Fisher Ross; niece, Angie VanManen and her daughter Izzy VanManen. He was preceded in death by his parents.

The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Quanah High School Alumni Association, Quanah Senior Citizens or Hardeman County Memorial Hospital.
