Obituary

Rina Clay passed away peacefully at her home in Quanah on Saturday, September 27, 2025, at the age of 75.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 4, 2025, at Bethel Baptist Church.

Rina Darrell Shelton was born on June 11, 1950, in Kansas City, Missouri, to Kenneth Ray Shelton and Arlene Dorman Shelton. On August 16, 1966, she married James Clay in Quanah, Texas. A devoted member of Bethel Baptist Church, Rina lived a life filled with love for her family.

She found joy in crafting, especially crocheting, sewing, ceramics, and baking. She dedicated her life to caring for others, working as a CNA and cook at the State Hospital and Nursing Home.

Rina is survived by her loving husband of 57 years, James Clay of Quanah; her daughters, Lawana Reeves and husband James of Claude, and Shannon Adams and husband Rodney of Vernon; grandchildren, Rina Lagrone and husband Tommy of Quanah, Jeff Raschke and wife Kelsey of Electra, Deon Clay of Arizona, Jessica Weaver and husband Phillip of Vernon, Tony Adams, Hunter Adams, Fallon Adams, Torren Adams, Grace Adams, Gavin Adams, and Dalanea Martinez; numerous great grandchildren; brothers, Evan Hockett of Kansas and Gary Williamson of Wichita Falls; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Donna Kay Dunbar and Sue Hockett; daughters, Juanita Weaver and Donna Swearingen; and grandson, Jason Weaver.

Rina will be remembered for her warmth, her creativity, and the deep love she had for her family. Her legacy of care and kindness will live on through all who knew and loved her.
