Robbie Lee Hurt, 89, passed away on Tuesday, January 31, 2017 in Quanah.
Funeral services will be held Friday, February 3, 2017, at 2:00 p.m., at Quanah Church of Christ. Interment to follow at Quanah Memorial Park under direction of Smith Funeral Home.
She was born on November 2, 1927, in Goodlett, Texas, to Malon C. Owen and Ella (Young) Owen. She was their last surviving child.
Robbie and Charles Hurt were married on April 9, 1947 in Childress, Texas. She was preceded by him on March 17, 2004.
She was a lifetime member of the Church of Christ, and lived most of her life in Hardeman County. Robbie worked as a secretary and bookkeeper at Georgia Pacific and Panhandle Compress, and was a homemaker. She served on the Hospice Board, was a member of the Needle Club, American Cancer Society, and a member and teacher of the Ladies Bible Class. For years, she taught teenage girls Bible Study.
Survivors include her daughters – Caren Riley of Quanah; Carol Johnson and husband, Tom, of Shallowater, Texas; 1 sister-in-law – Geraldine Rigsby Owen of Albuquerque, New Mexico; 5 grandchildren – Tori and Rusty Brawley; Ric Riley and Spring; Rob Riley and Wendy, all of Quanah; Jared Johnson and Alex Johnson, of Shallowater. Great grandchildren – Fara and Evan Garza; Charli and Nate Bozeman; Carlin Brawley; Alyssa Riley; Ella Riley; Creek Riley; and Ryver Riley. Great-great grandchildren – Michael Garza; Triston Garza; and Leah Bozeman; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Memorials may be made to Hospice of Wichita Falls, American Cancer Society, or Quanah Church of Christ.
