Robert Lee Becknell, Sr., 88, of Quanah passed away Monday, August 5th, 2019.

A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, August 8th, 2019 at the First Baptist Church in Quanah. Rev. David Smith and Rev. Ron Fox will officiate.  Interment will follow at Quanah Memorial Park.  Visitation will be held from 6:00 - 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, August 7th at Smith Funeral Home.

Robert was born December 29, 1930 to Harry Cecil and Nora (Word) Becknell in Hardeman County. He graduated from Quanah High School in 1949, and married Frances Jean McCrary on August 12, 1950.  He retired from Germania Insurance and was the owner of Becknell Hardware in Quanah.  Robert was a member of the First Baptist Church, where he served as a Sunday school teacher, church treasurer, and as a deacon for 65 years.

Those surviving include his son, Bobby (Nancy) Becknell of Quanah; his daughter, Jana (Mike) Hardison of Vernon; 4 grandchildren, Michael (Kristin) Hardison, Megan (Bert) Stewart, Regan (Brian) Moore, and Colby Hardison; 6 great grandchildren, Zac Stevens, Collin Michael Hardison, Benton Stewart, Isabella Hardison, Charlie Stewart, and Harper Moore.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Frances; a grandson, Collin Brett Hardison; and 2 brothers, Cecil and Jerry Becknell.
