Robert Leander Dake passed from this life on May 10, 2019. He was born December 26, 1927, to George Leander Dake and Katherine Rosmand Beall Dake.

Mr. Dake, who was born in Hardeman County, lived south of Quanah. He passed away in Austin after a brief, unrelated illness to Mrs. Dake.

He was married to Glenna Faye Malone Dake on July 22, 1948.

I interviewed the Dakes shortly after their 70th wedding anniversary. They were still as cute and close as they had been 70 years ago. Bobby told me he had seen her standing on the corner by the Corner Drug Store one evening with a bunch of teenagers, and she was the prettiest thing he ever saw. He found out who she was and the rest is history. I asked him if he still thought she was cute after 70 years, and he smiled, and said, "I sure do." They were a happy, Christian couple together.

Bobby and Glenna moved to Arlington in 1956, where they raised two daughters. Glenna worked for a newspaper, and Bobby worked for defense plants, and as a truck driver. In 1985, they moved back to the farm where Bobby was raised, and took up where they left off, becoming very active in the community and the Methodist church.

The couple is survived by two daughters, Cynthia Brouillette and husband James Hart of Sunset Valley, Texas and Sue Hudson of Mansfield, Texas. Grandchildren include Brandon Hudson and wife Netanya of Fort Worth, Texas and Nikki Lehman and husband Skipper of San Antonio, Texas. Great grandchildren included Bridgette and Isabella Lehman and Natalie, Hazel, and Matthew Hudson, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Arrangements have been made under the direction of Smith Funeral Home.

Memorial services will be held for Robert Leander Dake and Glenna Faye Malone Dake on Monday, May 27 at 2:00 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church. Visitation will be from 1:00 until 2:00 in the Parlor of the church.
