Bertha Villanueva passed away Wednesday afternoon, November 15, 2023 at her home in Quanah. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, November 20th at St. Mary Catholic Church with interment to follow at Quanah Memorial Park. Rosary will be held from 6-8 p.m., Sunday, November 19th at Smith Funeral Home Chapel.

Roberta "Bertha" Gonzales was born January 20, 1942 in Sabinal, Texas to Jesse and Elena Munoz Gonzales. She married Ray Villanueva July 17, 1959 in San Antonio. In addition to raising her family, she worked as a Certified Nurse Assistant. Bertha enjoyed cooking and baking; she loved taking care of her grandkids; gardening; and listening to music. A favorite was the Catholic channel.

Survivors include her husband Ray Villanueva of Quanah; daughter, Silvia Wyrick of Quanah; son, Reymundo Villanueva, Jr., and wife Patricia of Smyer, Texas; daughter, Anna Williams, and husband Anthony of Quanah; siblings, Maria Palomares, Arnold Gonzales, Leticia Sanchez, Cecilio Gonzales, Genevive Smith, Linda Ceniceros, Dora Olguin, Betty Garcia, and Jesse Gonzales, Jr.; grandchildren, Andrea Inmon, Christyna Villanueva, Sarah Elizabeth Case, Roderick DeShaun Woodard, and Jaylan Williams; great grandchildren, Alayna King, Camila King, Xander Case, Bryntlee Woodard, Makynlee Woodard, Braxton Woodard, and Zahra Inmon.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Jose Gonzales; son, Reynaldo Villanueva; and grandson, Andrew Wyrick.

The family suggests memorials be made to St. Mary Catholic Church in Quanah.
