Ruben Martinez, Sr., 70, of Quanah, died at his home on Sunday, May 12, 2019.

A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, May 15, 2019, at St. Mary's Catholic Church. Father Phil Petta will officiate. Visitation will be held from 6-7 p.m., Tuesday, at Smith Funeral Home Chapel.

Ruben was born May 5, 1949, in Uvalde, Texas, to Ponciano and Gregoria (Gonzalez) Martinez. He married Frances Fabela in Sabinal, Texas, on May 20, 1966.  They moved to Quanah from Bonham, Texas in 1972.

He retired from the Quanah ISD maintenance department. Ruben was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church. He enjoyed the outdoors.

Ruben is survived by his wife, Frances Martinez, of the home; 2 sons, Ruben (Tammy) Martinez, and John (Rita) Martinez of Quanah; 2 daughters, Stella Doyal of Quanah, and Irene Martinez of Burkburnett; 3 brothers; 3 sisters; 6 grandchildren; and 2 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a grandson, Isaiah Noel Martinez, in 1993.

The family suggests that memorials be made to Hospice of Wichita Falls.
