Russell "Rusty" Karl Muncrief passed away Saturday afternoon, December 27, 2025, in Quanah, Texas.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 3, 2026, at First Christian Church in Quanah. Interment will follow at Quanah Memorial Park. Visitation will be held Friday evening from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Smith Funeral Home.

Rusty was born on November 14, 1943, in Ardmore, Oklahoma, to Luther James Muncrief and Ruby Alene (Whitmire) Muncrief. He ended his formal education after the ninth grade, having already found his calling in the kitchen. Rusty spent more than 40 years as a cook at Faye's and Red's, where he became a familiar and well-loved presence to generations of patrons.

He was a lifelong fan of Texas Tech and the Dallas Mavericks and enjoyed following his teams with dedication and enthusiasm.

Rusty is survived by his nephews, John Muncrief, Jim Muncrief, and Wayne Muncrief; and his nieces, Jana Sanders and Judy Muncrief.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, R.L. Muncrief, J.E. Muncrief, and Doyle Muncrief; and his sister, Sylvia Muncrief.
