Shirley Moore, long time Quanah resident, passed away Tuesday afternoon, July 12, 2022 in Abilene Texas. A funeral service is planned for 1:00 p.m., Friday, July 15th at Childress Church of Christ, with interment to follow at Childress Cemetery under direction of Smith Funeral Home. Visitation will be held from 5:30 – 7:30 pm, Thursday, July 14th, at Smith Funeral Home in Quanah.
Shirley Jean Weaver was born to James and Lois Belle Weaver on March 5, 1936 in Childress, Texas. Shirley graduated from Childress High School in 1954. She married Franklin Moore on September 14, 1956 and together they raised two children. She was a member of the Quanah Church of Christ where she taught bible classes. Upon retiring from the ASCS office after 35 years, she served as the church secretary for many more years, and worked at Smith Funeral Home. She also helped Franklin with bookkeeping and other things for the farm.
Survivors include a daughter, Kathryn Diane Rich and husband Leslie, of Abilene; a son, Craig Alan Moore and wife Kimberly, of Lubbock; 5 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren; and many nephews, nieces, great nephews, and great nieces.
Shirley was preceded in death by her husband, Franklin Moore in May 2022; Father, James C. Weaver; mother, Lois Belle Weaver; 2 sisters, Pauline Nunnelley and Edris Fletcher; and two brothers, James Weaver and Bill Weaver.
