Sidney J. Watkins, 58, of Quanah, passed away Sunday, October 27, 2019 in Wichita Falls.

A funeral service is planned for 2:00 p.m., Monday, November 4 ^th , at the First Baptist Church in Quanah. Rev. Ricky McGee will officiate. Interment will follow at Quanah Memorial Park. Visitation will be held Sunday evening from 5-7 p.m. at Smith Funeral Home.

Sidney was born in Quanah on June 17, 1961 to Ernest "Sonny" and Dorothy Lee (Pate) Watkins. He served in the U.S. Army in 1981-1982 and remained in the U.S. Army Reserves until 1987. Sidney had worked as a cook and plumber and had been a long time employee of Dutch's Restaurant and Sister's Café. He attended First Baptist Church of Quanah and often sang in the choir.

Sidney is survived by daughters, Shanice Jacora Watkins and Shanie Watkins, both of Quanah; brothers, Johnny Watkins of Gould, Oklahoma, Lonnie Watkins of Hollis, Oklahoma, and Billy Johnson of Joplin, Missouri; sisters, Dorothy Jackson of Quanah, and Ida Mae Mitchell of Quanah; and 2 grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Ronnie Watkins, on February 27, 2014.
