Viola Evelyn Annis Tyler went home to be with her Lord and Savior on September 11, 2020. Evelyn was born in Quanah, Texas to Roy E. and Beulah (Sparkman) Annis, November 4, 1929. She married Robert Vernon Tyler October 15, 1949 and they were married 64 years until his death in 2013.
Evelyn was a lifelong resident of Hardeman County, where she was a homemaker, a nurse's aide at Quanah Memorial Hospital and a Med Aide at area nursing homes until her retirement at 80 years of age. She was a longtime member of First Baptist Church of Quanah.
Preceding her in death was her husband, Robert, her parents and her brothers, Edward, Alvin and C. S. Annis. She is survived and lovingly remembered by: her sons, Bruce (Kathy) Tyler of Brownfield, and Keith (Terry) Tyler of Amarillo, a sister, Virginia Tepfer of Wichita Falls, five granddaughters, Tracy (Aaron) Brandes of Plano; Keri (Mark) Williams of Brownfield; Leigha (Mickey) Houk of Abilene; Keitha (Berry) Bowman of Kermit; Lindsey Tyler of Amarillo, 10 greatgrandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and close friends.
Services are scheduled Wednesday, September 16, 10:00 am at the Smith Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Monte Lumpkin officiating. Visitation will be held Tuesday, September 15, 6-7:00 pm at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a donation to Interim Hospice of Brownfield or a favorite charity.
