Weldon "Butch" Dickerson died on Wednesday, October 4, 2017, in Quanah.

Butch was born January 23, 1940 in Forestburg, Texas to Elven and Lula Belle (Pilcher) Dickerson. He was a graduate of Oklaunion High School, and moved to Quanah, from Chillicothe, in 1964. Butch and Sharron McNair were married on June 3, 1960 in Vernon, Texas.   He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Quanah and served on several civic and church committees. At the time of his death, he was proudly serving on the Hardeman County Historical Museum Board. He was one of the original members that founded Fall Fest and Dickens Christmas. Butch worked as a carpenter, a John Deere mechanic, a retail businessman, and was a former Mayor of Quanah.

He is survived by his wife, Sharron Dickerson, of the home; a son - Greg Dickerson and (Matt Green), of Quanah; daughters - Sonya and (Skip) Richardson, of Quanah; and Kim and (Michael) Villegas, of Wichita Falls; 2 brothers - Jim Dickerson and (Sharon), of Garland, Texas, David Dickerson and (Teri), of Tyler, Texas; and a sister - Paula Willson and (Jon), of Midland, Texas; 5 granddaughters – Julie and (Jeff) Gresham, Jordon and (Clay) Conley, Carlee Barron, Reagan Wiseman, and Laurel Wiseman; and 4 great grandchildren.

Butch was preceded in death by his grandson, Morgan McNair Dickerson, in 2003; and brothers – Earl Wayne Dickerson in 1971, and Glen Dickerson in 2015.

A graveside service will be held on Saturday, October 7, 2017, at 11:00 a.m., in Quanah Memorial Park, under direction of Smith Funeral Home. Rev. Larry Holder will officiate. A Celebration of Life will follow at 1:00 p.m., at the First United Methodist Church in Quanah.
